We had a similar experience when we wrote our baby-naming app, NameShake. We slaved over getting the design right before we ever started coding and it helped us create a much stronger product. That's not to say there weren't problems -- we did miss a couple of bugs on the initial release -- but it seems we're back to smooth sailing now that our 2.0 version has been released.
