WRITER SMASH!

Your writing superpower is that thing only you can do.

Every writer develops a style through the hard work of flexing their muscles time and again, putting the pen to the page and discovering what they have inside. Along the way, each of us comes to recognize our own special gifts.

Your power may be a small treasure, such as the ability to turn a phrase just so or having a knack for plucking memorable names out of the ether. Some writers are gifted with multiple powers. Some writers struggle their whole careers to bring their powers to heel.

If you’re just starting out, chances are you just haven’t done enough writing to discover your power. I didn’t find mine until just recently, and I’ve been writing for over 20 years. And, like a superhero who just learned that they could fly, I’m still kinda shaky.

I’ll tell you soon what my superpower is, but I thought I’d toss another poll to hear from you… In a few days, I’ll put up the results and share my superpower, which like any good superpower is also my superweakness.

[NB: I launched the poll yesterday on Twitter and some fantastic writers have already shared their secret gifts. I hope you’ll take a few moments to step out from behind your alter ego and do the same. 🙂 ]
